A La Ronge fish processing company says it hasn’t fished all summer because federal rules leave it with no real market.

Carlson Fish Products spokesman Albert Carlson says with only a million people, Saskatchewan isn’t a big enough venue.

Carlson says there is a huge demand for his fish in Alberta, but he is not allowed to sell there.

“I can’t ship anything into Alberta.  People come to Alberta and they come and buy my fish and say ‘Why don’t you ship fish to Alberta?’.  Well, I’m not allowed to.”

He says that frustrates a lot of Albertans who visit La Ronge and want him to ship fish back to them.

Carlson adds Albertans can’t get enough fish, because they only have a couple of big fish-producing lakes, and their quotas are filled fast.
