The official date for the Metis Nation – Saskatchewan election has been solidified.
Advance polls will be held on September 1st, with the election itself on September 8th.
Nominations will be accepted from August 3rd until August 8th.
Chief electoral officer Ian Craven says they are using the 2007 MN-S election as a template.
He says while all the details have not yet been worked out, the number of polling stations will remain about the same:
“What I can tell you is, essentially, we’re using the guide of 2007. So for the most part, and I haven’t seen exception to that yet, we would be intending to do polls where there were polls in 2007.”
The writ will be dropped tomorrow and candidates can start filing their nomination papers.
Metis citizens wanting detailed information about the process can e-mail questions@mnsvote.ca or phone an information line at 1-877-780-VOTE.
