A three-year suspended sentence has been handed to the man charged after a stabbing death in Stanley Mission last summer.
The sentencing hearing for 31-year-old James Michael Cook was held yesterday in Stanley Mission.
Cook was arrested after the death of 26-year-old James Michael McKenzie, which happened August 3rd, 2011.
McKenzie was injured in an altercation involving Cook, and was later pronounced dead at the local health clinic.
Cook was originally charged with second-degree murder, but pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter in January.
As part of his sentence, Cook also received three years of probation and a 10-year firearms prohibition.
