Nearly $6 million in federal money is going into improvements for First Nations health centres across Saskatchewan.
Ottawa plans to use the money to expand broadband connectivity at 83 First Nations health facilities in the province.
Specifically, the money will be used to improve e-health services.
As an example, a doctor in southern Saskatchewan could examine the skin of a patient in the north through a video link, and then determine whether the patient should be flown out — or if the problem could be treated locally.
The money will be dispersed over the next five years.
