A Nipawin man has been fined nearly 22-thousand dollars for evading taxes while living near North Battleford.
56-year-old John Wesley Scott pleaded guilty in North Battleford Provincial Court to evading taxes.
Court was told Scott failed to report income totalling more than 151-thousand dollars between 2006 and 2008.
At the time, he was working as a truck driver and welder in Wilkie.
He said he was a “natural person” and therefore didn’t have to declare his income.
The Canada Revenue Agency and Provincial Court disagreed.
That Canada Revenue Agency warns if you’re convicted of evading taxes you can be fined up to twice what’s owed and be jailed for up to five years.
