Two people were killed in a two-vehicle crash near the Sturgeon Lake First Nation over the weekend.

Paramedics say the collision took place Saturday evening on Highway 355, near the entrance to the reserve.

Parkland Ambulance says it is believed that a vehicle struck another vehicle that had stopped on the highway.

The two victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

Six other people ranging in age from 16 to 28 years were hospitalized with various injuries — but are said to be in good and stable condition.

RCMP continue to investigate.
