The White Buffalo Youth Lodge in Saskatoon is re-opening its community kitchen.
The move was made possible through a $200,000 donation from the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan.
Saskatoon Tribal Chief Felix Thomas says the money allows for a major upgrade and renovation to the kitchen.
It serves food to a number of inner city kids, in addition to hosting feasts and other cultural celebrations.
For its part, PotashCorp says the move is intended to support the food and nutritional needs of people using the lodge.
Rhonda Speiss is the manager of corporate philanthropy at the company.
She says fixing the kitchen was a natural fit for PotashCorp, because “our business is all about feeding the world, helping feed people”.
Some training opportunities are also offered through the kitchen, which she says is an added bonus.
