The Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission is freeing up some money for people who want to take part in a couple of hearings next spring concerning uranium mines in the province’s north.
The first hearing involves a re-licensing application for Cameco’s Cigar Lake uranium operation.
The second involves the transfer of the decommissioned Beaverlodge uranium mill and mine to the control of the provincial government.
Aboriginal groups and other stakeholders are invited to submit their requests for participation at the hearings, which are tentatively scheduled to take place in Saskatoon.
Up to $50,000 in funding is available to individuals and groups who want to take part in the process.
