It was a day to remember yesterday for three people on the Little Red River reserve.
A malfunctioning heating system forced them from their house due to the presence of carbon monoxide.
Paramedics from Prince Albert took a man and a woman, both aged 58, and a 13 year-old girl to Victoria Hospital for treatment.
Lyle Karasiuk is a spokesman for Parkland Ambulance.
He says the residents were smart to exit the home when they first sensed something was wrong:
“All the people recognized that something was not right. They were all complaining of headaches, general poor feeling, flu-like symptoms and exited their home which is the proper procedure to do.”
He adds all three were released yesterday afternoon.
Karasiuk advises people to check their furnaces this winter if they experience any of those same symptoms.
He stresses it’s better to be safe than sorry.
