More than 100 protestors carried signs and waved banners during a march in Regina’s north central neighborhood today.
The residents marched to the legislative building to raise concerns about the federal government’s budget bill.
Bill C-45 has now passed through parliament but opponents are hoping an ever-growing protest movement will convince the Harper government to back off on some of the bill’s measures.
Aboriginal groups say the legislation was drafted and passed without consultation and its impacts will be felt by Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people right across the country.
Shawna Oochoo organized the latest march.
She says the legislation affects everything from water and fisheries to treaty rights.
Similar protests were held in major cities across the country earlier this week including Regina, Saskatoon and Prince Albert.
Organizers say the Idle No More movement is getting stronger every day.
