The province has expanded a program aimed at improving hockey rinks in Saskatchewan communities.
The Community Rink Affordability Grant now includes indoor rinks on First Nations.
The grant provides $2,500 per eligible ice surface to help fund operating costs and minor capital upgrades.
The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations welcomes the news.
Vice-chief Kim Jonathan says it’s nice to see some “outside the box” thinking when it comes to meeting the needs of the communities.
