Eight boys from a school in Buffalo Narrows are giving back to their community.
The boys are students in Grades 10 and 11 at Twin Lakes High School.
For the past four months, they have worked with their shop teacher to build a house in Buffalo Narrows that can someday be used by a family.
Curtis Rudnicki is the teacher who led them through the process.
He says the kids have done everything from shingling and sheeting to learning how to lay out trusses and installing interior doors.
Rudnicki adds building a house involves a lot of positive energy which is a good thing for the boys.
“When you think of four months to start and finish a home – kids see a lot of progress in four months right? That’s what I like. I like the fact that they can come out of high school learning how to build a house and potentially become a contractor.”
He says the boys are putting on the final casings this week and installing closet-hardware as well.
Everything should be completed by Monday.
The project was done in conjunction with Saskatchewan Housing and the Northern Lights School Division.
