The University of Saskatchewan has created a new think-tank devoted to environmental sustainability.
The new hub has been operating since last year but underwent its official launch late last week.
Director Marcia Mckenzie says the university wants to work with community groups, students and other academics to tackle issues such as greenwashing, climate change denial and society’s love affair with cars.
She says a lot of good work is being done in this area but the new group will help sharpen some of this research.
McKenzie says the group recently worked with students in the La Loche area on a digital media project.
Students were taught photography and video skills and allowed to tell their own stories regarding sustainability.
