The 21st edition of the Voices of the North Show was underway in Prince Albert this week.

Around 40 youth are down from destinations that include Uranium City, La Loche, Ile-a-la Crosse, Beauval and many others.

The first show ran Thursday night at the Prince Albert Exhibition Centre.

Producer Sheryl Kimbley says two more are set for Friday at 6:30 and Saturday at 10 p.m.

She explains there is a slightly different wrinkle to this year’s criteria for contestants as well.

“What we did this year is we asked our Voices of the North cast youth to kick off the show with some people that were their heroes and legends,” she says.

Kimbley says some of the choices include Adelle, Merle Haggard and Aretha Franklin.

On Saturday the Points Athabasca Northern Spirits Showcase will begin.

That starts at 1 p.m.

Special guest George Leach will also be on hand Saturday as well.
