Shawn Atleo is calling for concrete investments in First Nations education and skills training.
The AFN Chief says he also agrees with many of the things called for in the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives annual alternative budget.
Atleo says predictable federal transfers from Ottawa to First Nations would help address gaps in critical funding and support.
He stresses at the very least First Nations need to achieve parity with provincial funding rates and bands also need the flexibility and power to make decisions in their own governments.
