A series of information meetings for members of the Lac La Ronge Indian Band are being held over the next two weeks to discuss proposed changes to the band’s election act.
Band councillor Leon Charles is chairing the process and says discussions have been going on for over four years.
He says a list of the proposed changes has been posted on the band’s website and will also be available at the remaining six meetings.
Charles adds band members will vote on the proposed changes in plebiscites held during the First Nation’s upcoming Treaty Days.
Three information meetings on the election act are being held this week in Hall Lake, Stanley Mission and Little Red River.
The changes could be implemented before the next election in March 2014.
