Mosquito-Grizzly Bear’s Head-Lean Man First Nations Chief Noel Stone Jr. and Councillor Milton Oxebin have been ousted from their council seats.

Aboriginal Affairs says the reason for the removal is the two allegedly engaged in vote buying practices during band elections last April.

Former band councillor Elbert Pahsaknunk has also been found guilty of corrupt practices.

He resigned a year ago.

An Aboriginal Affairs spokesperson confirmed this decision today.

A new election is scheduled for April 17.

Five people are running for chief including former chief Clarence Stone, who is serving a one-year sentence for Treaty Land Entitlement fraud.

Last July, Stone was sentenced to a one-year conditional sentence after pleading guilty to theft over $5,000.

He admitted to stealing $22,900 from a TLE trust account.

Four other people are running for chief.
