The provincial government is under fire for its handling of a proposed all-weather road to Wollaston Lake.

The Hatchet Lake First Nation recently announced plans to move ahead with the project on its own.

The band is working to secure financing from an outside company and then plans to try and convince the provincial and federal governments to sign onto a P3 Partnership.

Speaking this afternoon in the legislature, NDP Leader Cam Broten says the province should do the honorable thing and construct the road.

Premier Brad Wall says the government is investing in northern Saskatchewan highways and that is reflected in this year’s budget.

He adds the government recently committed $30 million towards Hwy 914.
