The defense lawyer for a previously convicted child sex predator is happy with the decision his client got Friday.
Norbert Leslie Dumais was found not guilty of sexually assaulting two young girls but was found guilty of trafficking in prescription pills and marijuana.
In Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench Dumas was sentenced to time served –23 months and 15 days on various offences.
That includes eight months for the prescription pills and six months for the marijuana.
Defence lawyer Greg Chovin says it’s a reasonable sentence, given the circumstances.
Dumais is not free yet though.
He remains in custody pending the outcome of a peace bond matter.
That will be heard May 6 in North Battleford Provincial Court.
