A police-dog handler in Meadow Lake has been charged with slashing someone’s tires on the Waterhen Lake Reserve.
RCMP say the incident allegedly happened on March 18th.
They received a complaint from a resident the following day and launched an investigation.
As a result 36 year-old Shawn Irwin faces one count of mischief under $5,000.
RCMP Inspector Alfredo Bangloy says Irwin is still on duty, but restricted to office-work for now:
“The member is not suspended. The member is restricted to administrative duties so he’s not performing his functions as a police-dog handler at the moment.”
He says an internal review is underway.
Irwin is due to appear in a Meadow Lake court-room on June 24th.
