The English River First Nation is holding a community meeting today to discuss a proposed new deal with Cameco and Areva.
According to a release sent out by the band, the draft collaboration agreement would provide an estimated $600 million in economic benefit to the community over the next 10 years.
That value will be provided through jobs, business development and community investment.
The agreement also provides assurances the band will be fully engaged in environmental stewardship related to ongoing projects.
Another meeting will be held tomorrow in La Plonge at the Steel Building.
A summary of the draft agreement will be provided at those meetings.
The band says a signing ceremony is tentatively expected to take place on May 31.
