The 27th annual Career Symposium and Job Fair was held Monday at the Jonas Roberts Memorial Community Centre in La Ronge.

The event is organized by the Interprovincial Association on Native Employment, Keewatin Chapter.

Organizing committee member Cathy Wheaton says dozens of organizations took part in the event this year, which is the biggest one to date.

Organizations represented include corporations, educational institutions, training facilities, business development agencies, the government and private sector.

The goal is to provide information on the various career opportunities in the north and practical guidance on job applications.

“It’s directed at youth who are contemplating what their options are in the future as well as people who are looking for work right now,” Wheaton says.

She says there is a real diversity when it comes to the kinds of work people would like to take part in, especially in the north.
