The price for uranium is low right now, and plans for new nuclear plants in some countries are mothballed.
But retired Cameco CEO Jerry Grandey says that won’t last.
He says the future of uranium is bright, thanks to fast-growing countries like China and India.
Grandey was speaking in North Battleford on Monday.
He said China is building power plants as fast as it can.
“The rate of electricity demand growth goes up at about nine percent per year. That means they’re constantly building hydro plants, coal-fired plants and nuclear plants.”
Grandey said other countries will build more plants too, because their economies are also growing fast. He said they’ll want Saskatchewan uranium because it’s the best in the world.
