It is getting a little easier to find a job in Saskatchewan if you are Aboriginal — but the unemployment rate is still three times the provincial average.

The latest numbers from Statistics Canada put the off-reserve Aboriginal unemployment rate at 12%.  That’s down from 14.5% a year ago.

Aboriginal employment also increased for the third month a row, rising by roughly 1,500 jobs or about 4% last month.

Overall, there was a record 548,500 people working in Saskatchewan last month — and the unemployment rate stood at 4%, the lowest in Canada.
