A construction project near Pelican Narrows is going through some hurdles.
Recently, a load of steel girders that was bound for a bridge project near the community took a spill.
The load of steel fell into the ditch.
However, Doug Wakabayashi with Saskatchewan Highways says the project shouldn’t be delayed much, if at all.
He says the bridge replacement was scheduled to be constructed one half at a time.
So they will use the girders that are already on-site to do the work while more girders are brought in from Alberta:
“What the contractor is doing is using the steel that had been planned to have been used in the second half of the project for the time being. And if replacement girders are delivered in time, there actually won’t be any delay as a result of this.”
He adds some of the girders weren’t damaged in the accident, and will be used anyway.
The cost of the incident will be picked up by the contractor.
