Traffic is flowing again north of Prince Albert — which is music to the ears of people who live north of Montreal Lake.
Highway 2 north of Prince Albert has been re-opened after a huge sinkhole closed both lanes south of Weyakwin over the weekend.
The washout was caused by recent heavy rains.
The subsequent detour over a grid road presented a problem for supply trucks, which led to fuel shortages in La Ronge and points north.
But the road was opened to traffic at about 7:00 last night.
Since early Saturday, motorists wanting to travel between La Ronge and Prince Albert had been forced to take an extensive detour on a grid road that was out of cell phone range.
That route was posing a problem for fuel delivery trucks — leading to gas shortages in La Ronge and halting shipments of jet fuel for water bombers and flights to northern mines.
