The unsettled weather today brought an unexpected sight at the Sturgeon Lake First Nation this morning.
Band councilor Wesley Ballantyne says he and his sister spotted a funnel cloud on the south side of the lake:
“There was kind of a strange cloud in the beginning — and shortly after that, that was when a little twister started.”
Ballantyne says its a rare sight around there — but his sister, who used to live in Alberta, is more familiar with them.
Ballantyne is involved in the Fire Department and says he alerted the RCMP about the funnel cloud.
Environment Canada says there is the potential for more showers and thunderstorms this afternoon.
