Saskatchewan Highways is advising that a section of Highway 2 between La Ronge and Prince Albert is closed indefinitely because of a washout between Weyakwin and the Montreal Lake turnoff.
Flooding has created a large sinkhole about 52 km north of the Waskesiu turnoff.
The ministry says the Molanosa Road is also closed because of a washout.
There is a detour in place.
If you’re heading from La Ronge to Prince Albert, the detour is Highway 165 (the Creighton cut-across), east to Highway 106 (the Hanson Lake Road), south to Smeaton and then west on Highway 55 to Prince Albert. That route is also advised for motorists wanting to travel to La Ronge from Prince Albert.
According to a Saskatchewan Highways official, the washout and road closure does not affect traffic on Highway 2 between La Ronge and Weyakwin, or between Montreal Lake and Prince Albert. Traffic is proceeding normally on those sections of the highway.
