A First Nations lawyer in Saskatoon has claimed a big prize.
Donald Worme recently won the 6-49 jackpot.
The total prize is worth over $14.7 million.
The resident of Eagle Ridge says he bought the ticket at a Fas Gas in Saskatoon.
Originally from the Kawacatoose First Nation, Worme has been a staple in the Saskatchewan legal scene for over a decade.
He helped found the Indigenous Bar Association and has been a long-time member of the Saskatchewan Human Rights Tribunal.
Most notably he served as lead counsel to the family of Neil Stonechild during an inquiry into his freezing death.
He also served as Commission Council to the Ipperwash Inquiry in Ontario which reviewed the death of Aboriginal protester Dudley George.
Worme says he waited for a few weeks to claim the prize because he wanted to make plans for the windfall.
His prize is the largest jackpot ever won in Saskatoon.
