A record-breaking number of events are planned for this Friday to mark a national day of remembrance for missing or murdered Aboriginal women.

The Native Women’s Association of Canada says an unprecedented 200 gatherings are planned for the 8th Annual Sisters in Spirit Vigils.

Ten of those functions will be held in Saskatchewan.

Candlelight vigils are planned for La Loche, La Ronge and Regina.

Other events will be held in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Yorkton, Sturgeon Lake and Onion Lake.
