A three-week trial for a man accused of indecently assaulting children in a northern Saskatchewan residential school begins today.

Paul Leroux served as a dorm supervisor at the Beauval Indian Residential School in the 1960’s.

Leroux has been living in Vancouver in recent years and is facing 17 charges.

He is accused of assaulting boys between the ages of three and 18.

One of his alleged victims says the charges were laid after former students began telling their stories through the government’s compensation process.

The trial is taking place at Battleford Court of Queen’s Bench.
