A man was found dead on the Red Pheasant First Nation yesterday — and it appears he may have frozen to death.

RCMP say a 48-year-old local man was found laying unresponsive in a ditch on the reserve at around 9:30 yesterday morning.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mounties say it appears he left his residence early yesterday morning for reasons unknown, and succumbed to the cold.

An autopsy has been ordered to determine the official cause of death, but foul play is not suspected.

The name of the victim is not being released out of respect for the family.
