Officials with Manitoba’s Northern Health Region hope that procedures can return to normal by Friday at the Flin Flon General Hospital.

A water break on the weekend led to the closure of the hospital’s fifth floor where the maternity ward is located.

Health region spokesperson Glen Hildebrant says, so far, they have not had to transfer any patients to other hospitals:

“If there was a need for obstetrics services at all, they would divert them — if they knew they were coming in — they would divert them to The Pas.  It’s the closest location.”

Hildebrant says the clean-up is underway and electronic equipment is being checked to make sure it is working properly.
