A former teacher at the Moosomin First Nation’s Day School charged with numerous sex crimes says he cannot afford a lawyer.
Sixty-nine-year-old Morris David Hryniuk is facing charges of indecent assault from eight different alleged victims between the years of 1964 and 1969.
Appearing in a North Battleford courtroom Monday afternoon, Hryniuk says his Prince Albert house and all other assets are in his wife’s name.
Because of a court ordered publication ban, the alleged victims cannot be named.
Hryniuk’s initial application for a legal aid lawyer has been denied.
North Battleford RCMP say the allegations originally surfaced in 2008.
He is due back in court on Jan. 27.
