Officials with the Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region have sent out letters after a malfunction in a bathing tub in its Long Term Care Unit.
Last month it was noticed there were potential issues with the automatic disinfection function of some new equipment.
From installation in early October until the problem was noticed, there may have been times when the unit was not fully disinfected.
Health Region Acting CEO Teresa Watt says regular cleaning of the tub was still done, but sending out the letters was a precaution.
“We know that the risk to those who were bathed during this time really is quite minimal, but we’re still taking it quite seriously because the potential was certainly there. But we’re looking into how we can prevent this from happening in the future.”
Watt says if anyone experiences any unusual symptoms, including a skin infection, they should contact their care provider.
