An outfitter in Cumberland House says he is still experiencing the fallout from this year’s flooding.
John Carriere says mud and water damaged several cabins owned by him and his family.
He says they were eventually able to get the excess water out of the cabins but it took a long amount of time.
In the meantime, the cost of repairs is starting to add up and Carriere says he still hasn’t heard how much money he is going to receive from the province’s disaster assistance program.
“I’m waiting for them to give me something in paper and also to tell me what I could expect for compensation,” he says.
Provincial official Karen Lautsch says Carriere’s claim has been received and is being processed.
She adds processing can take time.
“So we are in regular contact with Mr. Carriere and we are certainly doing everything we can to provide him some assistance in as timely a fashion as we can,” she says.
Lautsch says Carriere should receive an advance payment soon.
