The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says child and family service agencies on reserve are getting a raw deal.
Vice-chief Kimberly Jonathan says a recent media story suggests agencies didn’t properly report the number of child deaths between 1999 to 2007.
She says agencies have been reporting children’s deaths, but that they were doing so to the office of the children’s advocate during that exact time period.
She also claims that the ministry of social services and the children’s advocate can’t seem to line up their own numbers about the number of child deaths in Saskatchewan.
