A Tribe Called Red has been nominated for Breakthrough Group of the Year at the 2014 Juno awards.

The list of nominees was released this morning.

In addition to the first nomination the band, which describes its music as electric pow-wow, has also been nominated for Electronic Album of the Year for their CD – “Nation II Nation.”

Vying for the Aboriginal Album of the year are five contestants.

They include Amanda Rheaume – “Keep a Fire”, Desiree Dorion – “Small Town Stories” , George Leach – “Surrender”, Inez Jasper – “Burn me down” and Nathan Cunningham – “Road Renditions”.

Saskatoon’s “The Sheepdogs” have also nominated been for video of the year.
