The national chief of the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples took her cross-Canada grassroots tour to Regina Wednesday night.

The purpose of the tour is to get feedback to help her prepare a report for the Prime Minister and Canada’s premiers.

Betty Anne Lavallee says infighting must stop.

Only about a dozen people showed up at last night’s meeting.

Some of them questioned the purpose of the organization saying it did not speak for them.

Chief Lavallee says getting the message out is a struggle especially since the federal government cut funding to Aboriginal lobby groups.

She says the struggle of Canada’s urban Aboriginal population is not being addressed.

The national organization has affiliate organizations in most provinces, including the Aboriginal Affairs Coalition of Saskatchewan.

President Kim Beaudin says last night’s meeting demonstrated how little progress has been made in dealing with the concerns of Canada’s growing urban Aboriginal population.

Lavallee is continuing her national tour with a stop in Winnipeg on Thursday.
