Officials with the Mamawetan Churchill River Health Region are working to fix a problem with test results.
Between March 2012 and this January, 102 pathology exam results from Prince Albert were not entered into the electronic medical records.
The health region’s acting CEO Teresa Watt says because of this oversight patients did not receive the results of some minor procedures which had been done in La Ronge.
Watt says it was caused by a gap in communications with the Prince Albert Parkland Health Region.
“When something like this happens you definitely dig into all aspects of it, you know, is it the technology end of things that is causing this issue, is there a human factor in it,” she says. “We look at all of those things when we have this type of an issue so they’re really working diligently at figuring out what is it that caused this, so that we can put fixes in place.”
The senior medical officer has determined that the delay in test results did not cause any serious harm to patients.
Letters have been sent to the 102 affected patients and anyone wanting more information should contact their health care provider.
