RCMP have ruled out foul play in the death of a 21-year-old man near Pelican Narrows.

Mounties initially considered Kieffer Braeden Linklater’s death suspicious — but an autopsy Monday determined he died of hypothermia.

His body was found in the bush just outside the community last Thursday, just minutes after being reported missing.

Staff Sergeant Dave Smith says the local detachment had just received word the individual was missing when another call came that a body had been found.

“Just before 5 o’clock on the 13th of March, an individual came to the detachment to report an individual hadn’t been seen since sometime on, we think, the 11th of March,” he says. “And it was probably 10 or 15 minutes later that our members were dispatched to a call of a body that was discovered just off the road in what’s known as the trailer court area of Pelican Narrows.

Police say that Linklater had been at a house party prior to his death.
