Roughly 124 Indigenous communities and businesses came together this week at the Aboriginal Business Match conference in Saskatoon.
The three-day conference offered numerous 20-minute meetings allowing Aboriginal representatives to find out whether a particular business is a good match for their community.
Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs Director of Economic Development Ken Graham says the conference was a good experience and he has made lots of worthwhile connections.
“It’s been a fascinating experience, some of the industry attendees here have presented information in ways that I hadn’t even considered before and I’ve been doing this for awhile,” he says.
Regional Sales Manager of Aboriginal Banking for Toronto Dominion Angelo Torchia adds you would be surprised what you can learn in just twenty minutes.
“You know what, I didn’t think it was going to be but I was wrong,” he says. “I think 20 minutes was a very good time and people came very prepared. So, for those that came prepared, I give them credit.”
The conference, which was co-hosted by the Clarence Campeau Development Fund and the Saskatchewan Indian Equity Foundation, wrapped up Thursday afternoon.
It took place at Teachers’ Credit Union Place.
