The RCMP’s Historical Case Unit North has charged a 29-year-old Stony Rapids man with two counts of manslaughter in connection to a fatal house fire in Uranium City four years ago.
Michael LaRocque was arrested and charged this morning. He will be making his first court appearance on the charges Monday morning in Prince Albert.
In the early morning hours of January 4th, 2010, the remains of Jack Cochrane and 21-year-old Philip Nighttraveller were found in a burned out mobile home in Uranium City.
Two years ago, Nighttraveller’s mother, Marlene Powder, said that the RCMP suspected foul play in the men’s deaths.
The RCMP say they have been investigating the case for the last four years, and their investigation will continue.
