A 29-year-old Pelican Narrows man made a court appearance in the community Monday after a weekend of violence.
Travis Alphonse Sewap is facing several charges after three teens were hospitalized with gunshot wounds early Saturday morning.
Mounties say a man emerged from a home with a .22 caliber rifle and began randomly shooting at a crowd outside the residence.
RCMP spokesperson Mandy Maier says before the shootings, local police received a report of a crowd attempting to smash the windows of the home.
“They were called to a disturbance of approximately 20 people attempting to smash windows and in speaking with the detachment commander, there were several gatherings going on in the area,” she says. “So, there were people outside walking around to get to these events.”
The three teens have since been released from hospital.
Police say alcohol played a role in Saturday’s incident.
