Provincial firefighters are working to contain a blaze in northwestern Saskatchewan.

The Gail Fire started Monday near Dillon Lake about 5 p.m.

Prince Albert Fire Centre Manager Scott Wasylenchuk says the fire is not currently burning close to any communities.

“We have a fire by the Alberta border and it’s approximately about 65 kilometres southwest of Dillon,” he says.

Nevertheless, Wasylenchuk says the Gail Fire remains uncontained.

“Well, the last report we had it’s still listed as not contained and they’re still working on it at this time.”

He says the fire is about 3 hectares in size and it is believed to have been caused by a lightening strike.

There are currently 46 fires burning in the province.

Four of these started in the last 24 hours.
