Prince Albert police say there has been a recent spike in the number of break and enters in the city.
Police are reminding residents to ensure they take precautions when leaving their homes.
Sgt. Brandon Mudry also says anyone who notices suspicious behaviour in their neighbourhood should contact police immediately.
“Make sure your doors are locked, make sure your car doors are locked at night, utilize yard lights, keep gates locked…,” he says.
Mudry adds he doesn’t believe the recent spate of crime has been limited to any one particular area of the city.
“Right now we’re seeing a small spike in break and enters and willful damages. I don’t know if it’s any particular area per se but we have noticed a spike.”
Police suggest having someone watch your home if you are going to be away for an extended period of time and to leave a yard light on.
They also recommend installing quality locks and a security system.
The public is also encouraged to call police if they see any suspicious activity.
