Nearly three years after the death of a man from La Loche, a trial date has been set for the man accused of killing him.

On Aug.16, 2011, 21-year-old Mason Tex Montgrand was stabbed to death at the maximum security Edmonton prison.

Ten days later, Lance Matthew Shane Regan, who was 24-years-old at the time, was charged with first-degree murder.

Montgrand had been sent to prison for the May 2007 killing of Blair Lemaigre.

The 19-year-old Lemaigre was found injured in a parking lot outside a local business in the community and later died.

The trial for Regan is scheduled to begin Oct. 20 in Edmonton.
