Three young Aboriginal moms have taken their creative look at Indigenous culture on the road.

They are called the Ephemerals and all three women are of mixed descent, artists and art curators.

Using existing pieces of art from the First Nations University in Regina, they have set up a display at the institution.

The women are also interacting with students and faculty to talk about their work and how trends are impacting on Indigenous identity.

One of the artists, Jenny Western, says the art tells a story.

“These projects are about exploring collections in institutions, bringing out pieces that may have been overlooked, bringing them out to look at things like cultural identity, sometimes issues of cultural appropriation,” she says.

Another member of the group is Niki Little.

She says the work is giving her a better understanding of herself.

“It has really helped me a lot in my own personal growth and what I am comfortable with and developed me personally as to what it means to be Indigenous and what is okay and what is accepted,” she says.

The display called “ Trending 2014” will be at the First Nations University until Oct. 17.
