The Harper government announced a number of new infrastructure funding projects Monday including half a billion dollars to repair and build on-reserve schools.
A total of $6 billion will be spent over the next three years.
The government has invested a total of $9.2 billion in community infrastructure on First Nations reserves since 2006.
Other funding priorities for the new infrastructure money include defence, borders, research facilities, harbours and search and rescue.
The government is also investing $191 million in renewal and repair of heritage and museum sites.
The announcement was made by Prime Minister Stephen Harper in London, Ontario.
