RCMP are thanking members of the public who helped out in a weekend search for three elderly men from the Beardy’s Okemasis First Nation.
The three men aged 68, 71 and 72 had been traveling in a truck and surrounding detachments were notified.
Constable Darbi Koshman from the Rosthern detachment says it started Friday afternoon when the three went for a drive on a rural road.
“I think they were just out for a drive. You know, they like to get out every once in a while and they were just going for a drive.”
Koshman says the three men were reported missing Friday evening and a search was organized which began on Saturday.
“We had our Saskatchewan Search and Rescue Team come up, their members from around the province came up and started looking, we had a plane on the way, it wasn’t up in the air yet, and also friends and family from Beardy’s First Nation were driving around looking for the individuals.”
Koshman says around 11 am Saturday the vehicle was found stuck in the snow north of Duck Lake by members of the Beardy’s Okemasis First Nation.
Fortunately the vehicle had enough fuel to keep them warm and the three men were uninjured after their night spent in the pickup.
